Leander Open Meet

20th January 2008 is leander sprint open meet held at Beechdale. Open meets are run by various clubs and Bramcote hopes to run its own next year. Open meets when you go with your club are a great opportunity to discover

what you can do on a 50 race,
get times for team selection for galas
for improving your times
and most of all for winning some trophies!!

Leander sprint meet is fun because its all 50's, and IM nice and local (Beechdale) we always enter a team for the relays at the end of the day which is really fun (the girls won this last year!).

We make sure there are at least 2/3 team managers on poolside to look after the children, give them advice and cheer them on.

I would like all my swimmers if they are eligible to do this (age on the day)

I would like you to do your best 50's and definitely the IM as this gives me a good base for all your strokes.

Please complete and hand back to me by Sunday 4th November, no later please as this meet fills up quick.

Notes from the Notts ASA Registration meeting

I attended the registration meeting for the Notts ASA 2008 leagues last week and have registered the club for:-

1. Notts and District League (this league is oversubscribed and one club will be removed at random)

2. Minor Gala League - Spring Round

3. Minor Gala League - Autumn Round

We are not registerd for the Spring Competition nor the Development League.

There was a brief (inconclusive) discussion on a proposal from Jamie Main that no club Nova swimmers be allowed to compete in competitions other than Speedo to give opportunities to other club swimmers.

Gala co-ordinators were asked to process and pass on results promptly (within 3 days) back to Notts ASA.

A call was made to encourage gala officials not to cheer on their own swimmers in order to focus on proper timekeeping (ridiculous in my view)

Any newly qualified officials need to be registered with Notts ASA to ensure they are included in the bible of officials: The East Midlands Regional Handbook

Clubs were encouraged to use the electronic timing system at Loughborough in order to familiarise swimmers and officials with how it works
