Primary Schools Gala

Bramcote SC hosted a Primary Schools Gala on the morning of Thursday 7th February. All schools within 2.5miles of Bramcote Leisure Centre were invited to take part.

Eight schools accepted the challenge - Bramcote C of E, Bramcote Hills, Roundhill, Eskdale, St John's, Stevenson, Chetwynd Road and Fairfield.

Most of the children were not club swimmers but all enjoyed the fun and excitement of the 25m races.
The success of the gala was mainly due to BSC committee and parents who gave their time to organise 130+ children and act as officials during the events. Thank you BSC parents!

Result - Bramcote Hills 127pts, Eskdale 109pts, Round Hill 107pts, Chetwynd Road 104pts, Fairfield 71pts, Stevenson 66pts, Bramcote C of E 50pts, St John's 26pts.

Bramcote Hills, Eskdale and Round Hill will represent South Broxtowe against three schools from North Broxtowe in a Grand Gala Final on 6th March.

Many BSC swimmers represented their schools and will compete in the Final. See list of swimmers here

Everyone welcome to the Annual Christmas Party and Presentation evening

County Champs Update after 1st of 3 weekends

Well done to all Bramcote swimmers who competed at the County Champs at Beechdale last weekend. Bramcote is fielding more than three times the number of swimmers than last year.

A special mention to NATASHA HOFTON who earned fifth place in the final of the girls 50m backstroke and sixth place in the 50m freestyle final. This was an amazing achievement for a 12 year old who was competing against girls of all ages (the 50m free was won by a 20 year old). Natasha was the youngest finalist by far.

Emma Bird comfortably won her heat in the 200m breastroke with a time of 1.52.35

BAGCAT points explained

BAGCAT (British Age Group Categories) points are awarded to children up to the age of 14, swimming in selected Galas. The real significance is when you swim at County, Regional or National Level. Points are then awarded according to your age and recorded time. The points for your best swims in certain events are then added up.

The events that "count" towards the BAGCAT total vary by age and gender and the level of the competition. At the end of the Counties or Nationals competitions, you will receive a BAGCAT certificate stating your position in the competition and the categories in which you swam and the times recorded regardless of the position you finished.

Rykneld Swimming Club B Grade Open Meet, Saturday 3rd May

Tom and I have chosen this open meet as our next key target after County Championships and we would like as many swimmers as possible to attend this open meet. It is being held at Clay Cross Leisure Centre and is not that far to travel from Nottingham. So if you are 9yrs by 3rd May please try and enter.

At this moment in time we are unaware of group entry forms so you may have to send this off yourself, please do so as soon as possible as this meet is very popular!

A notice will be going up on the board from Sunday (3rd February), please tick your name off on this once you have entered.

Thanks and regards,

Tom and Di

Individual results & PBs

Swimmer performance data for the last 12 months is now available through the club's website

You'll need a username and password which is available by clicking here. Then go to 'Results' then click on the link against 'Individual results'.

Remember:-

You'll need to change the course from yards to SCM (short course meters) before seeing our times

'Fastest' option defaults to 1 meaning you only see the swimmer's PBs, changing this lets you look at further results and start to monitor improvement

Any questions on the results, contact mike@swim-to-win.com

Changes to Minor and Notts & District Galas

Dear All

At the Nottinghamshire Swim League Meeting held last Thursday, in light of changes to the Speedo Swim League dates for 2008 it was decided that the following alterations would be made to the Minor Gala League and Notts and District League for 2008. Can you therefore update your club calendars to reflect these changes.

Minor Gala League Autumn 2008 will be held as follows:

Round 1: 20 Sept (no change)
Round 2: 18 October (change from 11 Oct so it doesn't clash with Speedo)
Final Round: 1 November (no change)

Notts and District League 2008:

Round 1: 11 October (this is a change from 18 Oct)
Round 8 November (no change)
Final Round: 13 December (this is a change from 6 Dec)

The changes were made because the Speedo Swim League for both East and West Midlands will be run of the following dates:

11 October
8 November
13 December

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Badge Galas - 10th and 17th February

They are happening on the 10th & 17th Feb (Sundays). All swimmers need to be poolside for 7:00pm. The badge galas are for all C, B and A squad swimmers who are NOT doing County champs. Obviously, for these two weeks, C and B squad training will be replaced by the gala but on both nights, we hope to finish by 8:30 in time for some light A Squad training.
