The results from the Sports Centre Gala held on Saturday, 29th March were:
1st 210 Worksop
2nd 204 Sherwood
3rd 191 Mansfield
4th 147 Bramcote
5th 138 Retford
Despite our 4th place there were some great swims from Bramcote. Natash Hofton (100m back), Luke Howdle (4 x 25m IM AND 100m breast) and Ashley Locke (50m breast) all achieved firsts.
This event was the second of five Sports Centre galas in 2008. The overall league winner will be the club that earns the most points from all five galas. The next Sports Centre gala is held on Saturday, 13th September.

Sports Centre League, 29 March at Retford (6.00pm warmup)
Just a quick reminder about the gala on Saturday. We are swimming at the new pool which is directly behind the old pool so I am told. The car park is often very full so it may be best to park at the old pool and walk. The pool is on Old Hall Drive in Retford. It is a 6pm warm up.
Thank you

Fantastic news from the Minor League Gala final

It was absolutely brilliant. We finished 3rd last night and third overall, so we have a trophy. We beat both Arnold and Mansfield. Great team effort.

A thank you from the Chairman
On behalf of the Club, and as a parent, I’d like to thank the coaching team for all the effort they have put in to getting the swimmers ready for the Counties and encouraging the turnout we achieved.
I’d like to openly extend an extra special thank you to Tom (and Sarah) for the hours they spent poolside across all the Championship weekends, providing continuity of coaching and support to the swimmers.
It has been really good for the Club. I can let you know that I overheard and received a number of positive comments from other clubs about the number of swimmers we entered, the successes we had and particularly the number of relay teams we entered (the most in recent times).
So I guess I’d better not forget a big thank you to all the swimmers, and of course the parents and guardians who got them there and supported them all too !!!
Here’s to a successful rest of 2008 !

Your invitation to the British Swimming Championships
Dear Club
Please find attached a flyer for the British Swimming Championships that are taking place from the 31st March - 6th April 2008 at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
The British Championships will be used as a selection event for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and also a host of other events in 2008. Come and support the GB team and give them huge a send off to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The swimmers nominated for the GB team will be announced on Sunday 6th April and we would like you and the swimmers in your club to have the chance to watch them qualify, meet the team and join in the celebrations by offering free admission!
This is an ideal opportunity for your club members to see the last finals of the trials being fought out by swimmers desperate to qualify for the event they have spent their lives training for. At the end of the session, swimmers will take part in a parade and be presented to the audience and the British media.
Come and see the stars of the sport both past and present, maybe get an autograph or two and enjoy the spectacle of this Chinese themed event. On Sunday 6th April, all this is free and we would like to invite each club to order their FREE tickets. Please contact the number on the flyer to pre-order your tickets and come and give the swimmers the best send off to the biggest event in 2008!
So come on, the swimmers need your clubs' support, call 0800 220 292 and book your tickets now!

Congratulations all those who took part in the County Champs
Hello Swimmers/Parents,
Me and Di would like to extend our congratulations and thanks to all swimmers who took part in the recent County Championships. Overall, this has been the biggest showing of Bramcote swimmers at a major meet for many years (at least 5+). We are now firmly established, I believe, as one of the top 5 clubs in the County. Over the next few years as a competitive squad we hope to improve upon this and use the recent Championships as a platform for success.
Everyone who entered did amazingly well, not one swimmer under-performed or painted Bramcote in anything but a positive light.
Once again thank you and see you on poolside soon.
Best regards,
Tom

Schools Galas
Thanks to everybody who helped at the primary schools gala last month - this event would not happen without your support & expertise.
It has been a big hit with schools so this year we have added the 'Grand Gala Final'. 3 schools from South Broxtowe (Bramcote Hills, Eskdale & Round Hill) and 3 from the North (Larkfields, Mornington & Gilthill) will take part. The event is on Thursday (6th March) at Bramcote LC - 9.00am for 9.30 start.
As usual I am asking for help. I am hoping BSC will again provide helpers, timekeepers, judges, referee, starter, announcer, desk people etc.
No heats this time - just 18 (25m) races and 5 relays (see 'order of events' attached). So with a fair wind it will be over by 11.00.
If you are able to help out on the day please let me know.
Liam
PS. The swimming committee have discussed a gala for local secondary schools. This will take place in the summer term. If you have any thoughts on this please get in touch as it will be on the agenda for the next ssc meeting.
