Shannon McDermott, Natasha Hofton and Luke Howdle at the Nationals

A massive well done to both Natasha Hofton and Luke Howdle who competed at the ASA National Age Group Championships, Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The highlight of the week for both of them, which is the UK’s premier competition for all age group swimmers, came on Sunday 27th July where they both secured finals in their respective strongest events (Natasha’s is the 200 Backstroke whereas Luke’s is the 200 Breastroke). In the final of the 200 Backstroke, Natasha secured 5th place, and in the 200 Breastroke, Luke secured 4th. This underlines the huge talent both swimmers possess, swimming and challenging the very best in the country. Well done to both of you!

Assistant Head Coach

PS. Shannon McDermott also competed at the Nationals in the 4 x 200M Nova Relay team. Teaming up with Natasha to form the first and third legs of the relay, Nova finished 2nd behind City of Leeds. A truly great result for the County and very special that swimmers from Bramcote made up half the competing team.

Notts ASA Time Trials - 13 July

RESULTS NOW ONLINE

Hi swimmers

Well done to everyone who took part in the summer trials. I was so pleased with all your performances, especially your 200free and IM some of you knocking 10 seconds off your times; bit disappointed on the backstroke event, but hey you learn by your mistakes and you won’t do it again.

If you do get disqualified, don’t get disheartened, its all part of the learning process just find out what you got disqualified on and don’t do it next time, your only young and there will be many many disappointments along the way; just smile about it and don’t crumble. The 200’s are a great test for counties at the beginning of next year. We will be doing lots more of them in training in preparation.

See you all Tuesday

Di
Head Coach

New partnership with online swim shop

"Clubshop.com is a partnership website that becomes the shopping site within your club website. Just as you would go onto the Apple website for product information on Apple computers and Ipods. On the Apple site there is a shopping page (store) where you can actually purchase the products from Apple. This is exactly what Clubshop is, the shopping page for the swimming club to offer your members.

When a member of the club makes a purchase through the website, the club will receive a return of either 20% credit on their SRS Leisure account or 15% cash. You can choose which option you prefer. Each club contact will receive a monthly update showing what you have earned.

Each individual that orders through the site will have the goods delivered by post to their door. We will offer a price match so that we can guarantee that the product cannot be purchased from another retailer at a better price.

Open Meet - Help needed...

Karen Oates, our Open Meet Co-ordinator is looking for a couple of people to train up to run the Meet Manager software. This software is only used twice per year, once at the Club Champs and once at the Open Meet. There are no other committments required other than these, and if we have a two or three people who CAN run the software, then we can even share this job out.

This is possibly a good job for a couple of parents and those teenagers who either don't swim, swim intermittently or are too fast to enter the Open Meet - but LOVE computers!

If anyone is interested, then please contact Karen directly: karen@dancedoctors.co.uk

ASA Time Trials on Sunday 13th

Hello Swimmers/Parents,

Please be advised I, as it is ASA Time Trials on Sunday 13th there will be no training for A squad on Sunday evening.

On Tuesday 15th July we will be doing some diving awards in A squad, as all competitive swimmers need to have a diving award for when they represent the club at galas etc. I encourage you to turn up on this night so we can get through as many swimmers as possible.

Also our venue has changed for training on Thursday evenings from Clifton to John Carroll Leisure Centre at Radford. It is the same time 8.00-9.00pm Please be aware that this is at great expense to the club so this session needs to be used, pool time is really valuable and we are really lucky to get the opportunity to use it but don’t forget if after a set time the committee find it is not fully used it will be cancelled so try and support me by attending. I would like to see ALL my swimmers turning up for this session it is a deeper pool than Clifton so we can now use for diving practice and turns.

Head Coach

Forthcoming badge galas

Lessons next tuesday (8th July) and the tuesday after that (15 July) will be replaced by 2 'mini galas'.
Please note that ALL swimmers, regardless of their normal lesson times, should be ready at the pool for 6:30pm. Please note as well that the 8th July gala is for GROUPS 3, 4, 5 & 6 ONLYand the 15th July gala is for GROUPS 4, 5 & 6 ONLY (Group 3 has normal lessons).

It is intended that these galas provide a light-hearted break from lessons and will allow the children to put their new swimming skills into racing action. The races will only be 1 length of the splash pool and there will be 2 races for each child on each night. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me back,

Thanks,

Sarah Ford
(swimming teacher in splash pool).

All welcome at the BBQ this saturday

Nottingham Northern Sprint

Bramcote Swimming Club entered the Nottingham Northern Sprint on Sunday 29th June and did tremendously well all round. We had one of the biggest teams there and was represented in almost every event during the day.

Overall we had 16 swims make the finals in the 50M events - a clear sign the club is improving, along with a large turnout that featured swimmers both from B and A squad. The trophy hall was great, and it was exciting to see so many Bramcote swimmers doing so well.

We will be doing this meet again next year so watch out for details!
