Further changes during club champs

Dear Swimmer/Parent

As you are probably aware, during our Main Pool Club Championships, it becomes impossible to teach the swimmers in the splash pool so we regrettably have to move the group 5 and 6 lessons on Sunday 28 September, Tuesday 30 September, Sunday 12 October and Tuesday 14 October.

For these dates, the new times are as follows:

Sunday 28 September/ 8:00-8:30am – Group 5
Sunday 12 October 8:30-9:00am – Group 6

Friday 03 October/ 20:00-20:30 – Group 5
Friday 17 October 20:30-21:00 – Group 6

The children will be taking part in their own Splash pool Championships on Sunday 5 October and Tuesday 7 October.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. This movement will, however, provide the swimmers with a quieter environment with fewer distractions for the lessons and will only be for these two weeks in the year.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to ask a member of either the staff or committee or give me a call at home on 9855079.

Changes to group 4 and groups 5 and 6 during club champs

Dear Swimmer/Parent

As you are probably aware, during our Main Pool Club Championships, it becomes impossible to teach the swimmers in the splash pool so we regrettably have to move the group 4 lessons on Tuesday 30 September and Tuesday 14 October. Rather than the usual lesson time at 6:30, for these two Tuesdays, the lessons will be 8:00-8:30 in the small pool instead of the splash pool.

Sunday lessons in the small pool will be unaffected.

Coach of Rebecca Adlington, 2 times Gold medallist at Beijing 2008.

Nottingham Nova Coach Bill Furniss has been booked by Bramcote Swimming Club to deliver a swim skills day on Monday 27th October 2008 (first week of Nottinghamshire half term).

This is an amazing opportunity for the club and a really unique offer available to members of Bramcote Swimming Club. The price for a place on the day is £20 and will offer something to each swimmer which they have never had access to before.

It will be a fantastic day, with a combination of water based activities and land based sessions.

The focus of the day will be on Breastroke and Butterfly (the short axis strokes), but it will be of benefit to every single swimmer; whether these strokes are your best or worst!

There are 50 places available in total, so while there is plenty of space, you will need to get your name down early to avoid disappointment. We are aiming this swim clinic specifically at the competitive swimmers in the club.

Please bring your £20 and reply slip to either Dianne Mann, Tom Wilkinson or Michelle Preston to book a place.

Any questions please contact any of these coaches or a member of the committee.

Assistant Head Coach

Lenton Pool re-opens - ALL INVITED

We are delighted to announce a weekend of celebration and fun activities to mark the fantastic news that the Lenton Swimming Pool will be re-opening on Friday 5th September – four years to the days from when it closed.

The official ribbon cutting by VIPs will take place on Friday 5th September at 4pm followed by a free ‘splash session’ in the swimming pool and a ‘community celebration’ to mark the occasion - chance to soak up and enjoy this significant milestone in the life of the Lenton community.

It was the pool that galvanised the local community into action four years ago. This resulted in the creation of The Lenton Centre (TLC), which now pioneers a social enterprise approach to community development.

On Saturday 6th September at 2pm, we will hold an ‘I-learnt-in-Lenton Relay’, again followed by a free splash session.

It is not just Olympic swimmers like Adam Faulkner that learnt to swim in Lenton Baths - many, many people across Nottingham and beyond have started their doggy paddle days at Lenton. We want to honour this rich heritage of quality swimming teaching (and have a bit of fun!) by running a simple relay from the oldest to the youngest, passing the baton – well actually a rubber duck! – from swimmer to swimmer and onto the new Quackers Swim School, which will be based at TLC. We may even start the relay in the Market Square!!

However, we do need help to contact swimmers who learnt in Lenton. To register simply contact the TLC Reception (9412422) or fill out an enquiry form on the TLC website (www.thelentoncentre.org.uk)

On Sunday 7th September from 10am to 4pm, we will have an ‘Open Day’ at TLC. The swimming pool and gym will be free for the day and there will be many other fun activities, displays and demos including belly dancing, tai chi, martial arts, drama, street dance, therapies, health trainers, face painting and much more.

The swimming pool is TLC’s ‘jewel in the crown’. It is also Lenton’s best kept secret – something we would like to change. We want everyone to know what a fantastic local pool this is. Come and join in!
