New session! - John Caroll Leisure Centre

As of the 30th October 2008 Bramcote A squad now train at John Caroll Leisure Centre, Nottingham for 2 hours between 7 and 9pm. This has come about through requests for earlier pool time and sessions, along with a longstanding ambition to have a regular 2 hour session for the competitive swimmers in the club.

A route plan from Bramcote Leisure Centre to John Caroll can be found here:

I will be handing a short note about this change tomorrow at the pool. Dianne’s sessions will switch back to Bramcote Leisure Centre (8.30 – 9.30/10.00) to make way for this movement.

If you have any questions about the pool time, please either phone, email or contact me on poolside.

Don’t forget to be sending off your Bramcote, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Leander and Long Eaton open meet forms!

Forthcoming Open Meets

Hi everyone

Here are links to the next 3 key open meets we will be working towards as a squad:

http://www.swim-to-win.com/EntryFormRev.pdf (everyone needs to enter this A and my B squad I expect all my swimmers to enter 200 free and 200 1m)

http://www.leandersc.com/openmeet/openmeet.htm (great meet to get pbs for gala selection and counties all 50 sprints and its local at Beechdale!)

http://www.nun-bed-sc.co.uk/Dec_08_Open_Conditions.pdf Nuneaton and Bedworth is great preparation for Counties as all my A squad and some of my B squad will be expected to do 200 Fc, 200 No1 and 200 IM at counties (so long as they have qualifying times) 50’s are your choice. Nuneaton and Bedworth is a great meet to get some 200 times.

If you haven’t done so already, I would suggest sending off entries for all open meets to guarantee a swimmers place and give some focus to the next 2 – 3 months of training in the run up to County Championships.

Please let me know if you have already entered any of these meets so I keep a check.

Thanks

BBC East Midlands Sports Awards 2008

FREE TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE DESK ON TUESDAY

Hello,

I'm involved in organising the BBC East Midlands Sports Awards 2008, which will be presented by John Inverdale at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on Thursday November 27th. The evening begins at 7.30pm and is expected to come to a close at around 9pm.

This year we are hoping to pack the hall by offering tickets to sports clubs and organisations across the East Midlands. Our main sponsors, Sport England, East Midlands Regional Assembly and East Midlands Development Agency and ourselves, are keen to reflect the enormous amount effort that's put in at sports clubs and organisations around the East Midlands. With this in mind we would like to offer your club free tickets to the BBC East Midlands Sports Awards 2008.

Please could you let me know if you are interested in joining us and how many tickets you will need by e-mail. As I am sure you will understand, we don't want lots of empty seats on the night, therefore it would be appreciated if there's a genuine commitment to come along.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,

Lydia Bone

2nd place in the first round of the Notts and District League

1st round result 11/10/08:

1st Carlton Forum 266pts
2nd Bramcote 201pts
3rd Southwell 198pts
4th Northern 172pts
5th Portland 153pts
6th Arnold 107pts

The Notts and District galas take place on the same evenings as the National (Speedo) League galas. Bramcote SC have a team in each league. 201pts was a fantastic achievement for a team that included many from the B squad. Several swimmers were asked to swim above their age group and it was their points that secured the vital second place.

A nail-biting finale, a great team performance - well done everyone!

Full results and league table will be posted on the blog soon.

All welcome at the Club's AGM on 1st December

Forthcoming Open Meets and Galas

Hello,

Just a quick message about a couple of things:

Please ensure you are sending off the Open Meet entry forms for the upcoming meets. These are the Bramcote Open Meet (Sunday 30th November), Nuneaton and Bedworth Distance Meet (Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December) and also the Leander Sprint Meet (18th January 2009).

All swimmers will have updated times over all strokes and distances after club championships; however if you are still unsure on what events and/or times then do get in touch.

There are several galas appearing quickly on the board as we are now entering one of the busiest times in the year for competition. Full attendance at galas is essential in securing great results for the team. There has been some massively encouraging swims and team efforts in only the first few weeks of the new season and I am hoping this continues right throughout the year.
