Congratulations to the Bramcote team that competed in the Leicester Diddy League final on Saturday 27th June. There was some excellent swims across the board and against tough opposition we came an excellent second position behind City of Coventry. The following swimmers competed:

Many of these swimmers were competing for Bramcote either for the first time or for the first time outside of a gala at Bramcote Leisure Centre.

European Youth Olympic Festival Finland

Natasha Hofton has just been chosen to swim at this international event - to be held 18-25th July.

Summer BBQ

A big thanks to all who supported the annual summer BBQ last saturday night. We sold over 150 tickets and the event was extremely well attended. Those to thank are too numerous to mention in full. However particular thanks to Karen L, Jen S and Tanya W and also to Paul for managing the cooking.

Bramcote at the Midland Age Group Championships

Bramcote swimmers Natasha Hofton, Luke Howdle, Thomas Howdle and Oliver Cooper competed at the recent 2009 Midland Age Group Championships in Coventry.

Each of these swimmers train and compete for the Nottinghamshire County Squad, NOVA, and did both Bramcote and the County proud. Natasha continued her dominance of female swimming in the region taking the 13 year olds BAGCATS title.

Luke continues his rise to the top as well taking the 200M Breastroke title and finishing fourth overall across the Boys 14 years age group.

Both Natasha and Luke will be representing NOVA and Bramcote at this summer’s National Championships. Competing in his second Midlands, Thomas Howdle swam well in the 100M Freestyle, 200M Freestyle and 200M I.M.

Oliver Cooper, competing his first Midland Championships achieved a great sixth place overall in the boys 10 years age group. The future is looking really bright for Both Thomas and Oliver.

Pool closures in September

Nottingham University Swimming Pool will be closed on the following dates during the summer:

Wednesday 19th August 2009 @ Nottingham University. Whole pool close for repairs.

Wednesday 26th August 2009 @ Nottingham University. Whole pool close for repairs.

Wednesday 2nd September 2009 @ Nottingham University. Whole pool close for repairs.

Wednesday 9th September 2009 @ Nottingham University. Whole pool close for repairs.

As such no training will take place on these evenings.
